There has been a lot of confusion lately about the origins of the badges now displayed on the Alberta 1 jersey. At first there were many people who accused Alberta 1 management of simply creating the badges to increase publicity, however these allegations ceased when Brian Place announced to the press that the badges were really sent out as a prank by elleniko of redop.
This appeared to be a believable story, claiming that “Elleniko generated some patches and mailed them to all of us with no return address.” Then continued “Sean was the only one to fall for it and put it on his logo.”
That story satisfied the press and they simply considered Elleniko the disgruntled funny guy and Sean the unsuspecting sucker… Until today! Portuguese newspapers were filled with this article http://www.cyclingsimulator.com/?page=Press Release&team=redop&article=2354 and the story is being distributed across America right now.
What can be made of this? Is Elleniko simply continuing his prank by denying the story? Not according to USPS, a representative has come forward with official records that a parcel was shipped from Brian Place to Sean Edward just 2 days before it was first used in the Maasmechelen Grand Prix. The parcel was classified as “oversized” and was heavy enough to contain the patches.
So the question becomes, what is Mr. Place trying to hide?? First Sending the badges, then making up a story about a irritated prankster from Portugal sending them to all the SNAOTR members. Is Brain the real prankster?
This question was answered when we spoke to former lastplace1414 rider, Taymullah Burhan, Upset with Brian for “dumping him,” he was willing to tell us the real story.
“I was still riding for Brian when the badges were sent to Alberta 1. They were created a couple months ago to sell at an exaggerated price to any team wishing to become involved with SNAOTR. It was all Brian’s idea in an attempt to fund his very numerous training endeavours. However when no one bought the badges and simply traded else ware, he sent them to Sean to see if they could be sold north of the border.” Taymullah continued. “It was never part of the plan for Alberta 1 to put the badges on their own jerseys… and when they did Mr. Place was worried the real story would go public, so he blamed redop in an effort to keep his good name.”
Now that the truth has become public, we asked Sean if he intends to Keep the badge on his uniforms. “Absolutely!” He replied “Alberta 1 is proud to be a member of SNAOTR.”
Alberta 1 has also incorporated the Official SNAOTR markings into their new jerseys and is looking sharp…
Undoubtedly SNAOTR!!

redop at 00:03 11/12-2010 | | he might have not been there, but he sure had inside information and know what was going on in your team...
I sure know I have nothing to do with it, and one until very recently your rider says you're the responsible, I believe him!
would of course be nice if Tay Moo have some evidence (did he 'move' some documents to canada?...)
Statement from the manager's desk: "Mr. Burhan's accusations are false. Not only were the patches generated by Elleniko, but Mr. Burhan was not even with the team two months ago! So how can he claim to have witnessed such an event?"
